Your First Visit: Your consent to treatment includes a case history to establish a baseline for treatment including, A brief physical assessment of range of motion and muscle joint manipulation or limitations, A suggested treatment program is discussed that may best suit your needs, Followed by a full hour of massage treatment. Stretching and exercise recommendations may be included. Light gym clothing or shorts ideal for exercise and massage. |
The Assessment: The massage therapist is assessing your condition using the basic five criteria defined by Leon Chaitow, ND, DO in his book: Modern Neuromuscular Techniques. The criteria are: Muscle tension, Spasm/strain, Myofascial trigger points, and Muscle deficiency/postural dysfunction. In detection of injury or dysfunction, the therapist then uses the palpation techniques of tone, tenderness, texture and temperature to better define your condition and assess how it may be treated. |

Typical Massage Treatments Swedish Massage involves use of fingers, knuckles and hand movements to slowly: knead, roll, wring, and friction muscles for vibration, tapotment, and joint movement. Deep Friction Massage refers to the technique of manipulating the upper surface tissues with respect to the deeper tissue. Frictions is a common reference to preventing or breaking down lesions that have formed. Manual Lymph Drainage is a technique used to increase lymph flow to reduce fluid accumulation, or edema. Connective Tissue Massage technique consists of tangential pull or push of the skin to a series of reflex zones. An excellent relaxation and preliminary exercise for deeper therapeutic treatments. Active Massage - massage by Sunny Maya while doing stretches is a much enhanced means to improve flexibility and range of motion in the shortest time. Massage Table, Masage Chair and floor mats and seated massage may be used. Finish the treatment with ice packs or ice massage. |
